Apr. 1: Hussman Ranch: Preserving a Way of Life for Generations
There's something special about preserving tradition and keeping cattle ranches together across generations.  One of the unique ways to do so is with a conservation easement – which is a means for ranching families to gain some of the value of the development rights on their land while ensuring that their operations will always remain open space.  Reporter Brian Baxter takes us to the western edge of Nevada for more.

Feb. 26: 2007 National Environmental Stewardship Award Winner
Those who live and work on the land are, by nature, the most dedicated to preserving that land for the future.  No doubt, Yolo Land and Cattle Company, this year’s winner of the Environmental Stewardship Awards Program, is an operation that excels in the commitment to environmental stewardship demonstrated by each member of the Stone family.  Karen Stone says that, “I think we all passionately believe in what we’re doing.  I think that all of us feel the same way, that preserving the environment – not only our ranch, but the environment in general – is important for our next generations.”  To learn more about the Environmental Stewardship Awards Program and to nominate a farmer or rancher, visit: esap.beefusa.org
