Watch Cattlemen to Cattlemen Week 41: Original Air Date November 13, 2007:
On this week’s edition of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen, we showcase some of our favorite stories brought to us by Fort Dodge Animal Health.
First, reporter Todd McCartney heads to Dixon County Feeders in Nebraska to learn more about how to get the most value from calves on your operation. It’s an important proposition for beef producers, as input costs continue to rise. Click here to learn more.
In Missouri, reporter Jim Whitt learns more about the importance of pre-conditioning your calves and the importance of a value-added marketing program.
Plus, it’s a problem that could have a major long-term impact on the cattle industry. The number of students studying to become large animal veterinarians is shrinking. But on a visit to Kansas State University’s Veterinary School, we found that it’s a problem both the University and Fort Dodge Animal Health are working to fix.
Fort Dodge Animal Health and the National Cattlemen’s Foundation have joined forces to offer five Legacy Scholarships. Three scholarships will be awarded to veterinary school students who have chosen to study beef production. Two scholarships will be offered to undergraduate students who are enrolled in an animal science program.
Cattle producers can use their Fort Dodge Animal Health invoices to support the Legacy Scholarship program. Just fax qualifying Fort Dodge Animal Health invoices to 1-800-330-4720. The company will donate three percent of sales to the Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarship program for a total of $25,000. Click here to learn more about the scholarship.
