Watch Cattlemen to Cattlemen Week 23: Original Air Date July 10, 2007:

This week’s edition of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen brings you a pair of Cattle Learning Center segments from Bayer Animal Health, as well as a tribute to one of the modern cattle industry’s greatest pioneers.

Controlling horn flies is a major challenge for many cattle operations. Todd Firkins and Scott McNeil of Bayer Animal Health join reporter Todd McCartney to discuss measures you can take to prevent herd damage from this dangerous parasite. Learn much more about control and prevention of horn fly damage at these informative Web sites:

Common house flies can also be more than just a nuisance on your farm or ranch. They can also spread disease and create unsanitary conditions in and around your home. Dr. Bruce Steward of Bayer Animal Health joins Cattlemen to Cattlemen to discuss this problem. As Dr. Steward explains, it takes an integrated approach to achieve effective control of house flies. For more information, visit Bayer Animal Health.

And Cattlemen to Cattlemen offers a profile of W.D. Farr of Greeley, Colo. – an industry leader that many consider the father of modern cattle feeding.  Mr. Farr’s contributions to farming and ranching span 75 years, including innovations not only in cattle feeding, but also development of a uniform beef grading system, water development and management, and banking and finance. Two graduate-level scholarships honoring Mr. Farr will be awarded at this year’s Cattle Industry Summer Conference, held July 16-20 in Denver.
