Watch: Cattlemen to Cattlemen Week 4; Original Air Date: February 27, 2007
In this week’s episode of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen, Duane Lenz of Cattle-Fax discusses the recent jump in fed cattle prices, and record highs being set for cattle futures contracts. Will this also be good news for calf and feeder cattle prices?
At the Cattle Learning Center, reporter Todd McCartney talks with cattle nutrition experts from Purina Mills about the important role mineral nutrition plays in reproduction, feed efficiency, and herd health.
Reporter Jim Whitt takes you to Capitol Hill for a visit with Congressman Collin Peterson of Minnesota, the new chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. Peterson provides his thoughts on renewable fuels policy, federal conservation programs, and the cattle industry’s importance to the rural economy.
You’ll also meet NCBA’s Washington lobbying team. Every day, NCBA is on Capitol Hill representing the nation’s cattlemen on issues important to their bottom line and to the future of American agriculture. But according to the team, grassroots involvement by cattlemen is also a must.
Cattlemen to Cattlemen also goes on the road to Cottonwood, Arizona, to meet Anna Groseta – a young woman making her way in the cattle business. From working the family ranch, to being a National Beef Ambassador and USDA intern, to studying ag economics at the University of Arizona, Anna is building a very promising future in the industry she loves.
And country music star Michael Martin Murphey headlines Operation Blizzard Benefit – a benefit concert to help farm and ranch families devastated by this year’s winter storms. The concert will be held March 18 in Pueblo, Colorado. Visit www.blizzardbenefit.org for more information, and to find out how you can help those in need.
